Meet Mr Olsen
I have had the opportunity to do some very exciting things in my life. My singing has taken me all over the world. I have sung on stages all across america, in Canada, and in Europe.
I studied opera at Utah State University and while I was finishing my degree, I sang leading operatic roles with Opera Idaho and Utah Festival Opera Company. After Utah State University, I was the winner of the Robert Weede Award at the Cincinnati Conservatory of music. My wife Amy and I spent two years in Cincinnati finishing my masters in music. While in Cincinnati, I earned my Masters in Opera performance. I sang with Cincinnati Opera, Kentucky Opera, the Cincinnati Symphony, the opera theater of Lucca, Harrisburg Opera, Eugene Opera, and many more. I have been a guest soloist with the Vancouver Symphony, The Cincinnati Pops and the Salt Lake Philharmonic.
I realized early on in my singing career that I wasn't happy away from home. I moved back to Boise and taught private voice at Boise State University for many years. I then taught choir and orchestra at East Valley in the Nampa school district. I feel very much at home teaching here at Kuna High School. Since moving to Kuna, I have been more content than I have ever been.
Outside of music, I am a caricature woodcarver. I am a member of the Caricature Carvers Of America. I also enjoy Wake boarding and snowboarding. Our family lives in nearby Melba in a home that I built for us myself.
